BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province’s most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children (SHHC), a leading provincial facility offering specialized services to children and youth with developmental disabilities from birth to age 19, works collaboratively with BCCH. SHHC focuses on the child and their family while supporting health care professionals in their community. BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the Child & Family Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Rotating
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Reporting to the Critical Care Program Manager, you will provide and coordinate a high level of nursing care for pediatric patients and their families. Along with a sense of enthusiasm for critical care, you maintain compassion for others through your solid communication and interpersonal skills that help you relate to children and their families. These strengths will be of paramount in working with our team, and equally important in providing assessments, patient education and promotion activities. Specifically, you will collect and document patient information, develop care plans, act as an expert resource on treatment and procedures, and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
Our Critical Care Program treats more than 1,200 children annually. It is the only Intensive Care Unit in British Columbia that specializes in pediatric medicine. Care is given to infants, children and youths from newborn to 17 years old that have urgent needs due to life-threatening disease, injury, or following surgery, such as cardiac or brain surgery. We offer a comprehensive orientation program that will set the stage for advanced learning and see you make a difference in the lives of young patients and their families right from the start. You must have completed a certified nursing program and have current registration, or eligibility, with the College of Registered Nurses of BC together with at least one year of nursing experience in critical care specialty.
