Senior Medical Director - Perinatal Program

BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre (BCW) is accepting applications for the position of Senior Medical Director, Perinatal Program.
In collaboration with the Senior Administrative Leadership, Perinatal Program, you will be accountable for providing medical leadership in the Perinatal portfolio. This key leadership position will provide strategic direction to support multi-program delivery within a clinical, teaching and research environment. This part time position (0.5FTE) is accountable for quality of medical care, clinical standards, clinical outcomes and utilization management. The Senior Medical Director is a member of the BCW Executive team, and reports to the Vice President, Medical Affairs BCW.
Providing strong leadership for the Program Medical Directors and other designated staff within the programs, including maintenance of medical and ethical standards of practice is a major component of the role. You are recognized and respected as a team player with superior communication skills who is knowledgeable in current evidence related to maternal newborn health. Your experience in addressing quality and safety of patient care will be a major asset. You will work with other senior staff including Medical Department Heads to establish clinical, teaching and research plans for programs within BCW, plan new initiatives and provide guidance in the identification of emerging issues and opportunities.
This role will appeal to candidates who want to make a difference and who have the ability to influence the development of long term directions, priorities and strategic options. Additional responsibilities include cultivating alliances with other hospitals and community agencies for the coordination and provision of provincial services through partnerships and networking.
Candidates will hold a Medical Degree and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. This will be supplemented by at least five years recent experience in medical administration, in a progressively more complex and senior leadership role within a teaching hospital. Specialty and/or significant experience relevant to maternity, neonatal care and women’s health is required. The successful candidate will be eligible for a faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia. This position is suited to those with demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
