Overview

IMITS manages over 300 applications across business, clinical and research environments, serving over 50,000 front line, administrative and research staff to enable over 4.8 million patient encounters a year. As a successful candidate, you will deliver support to enable PHSA, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) to become leaders in providing patient-centered health care. The Computer Technician 2 provides technical leadership and support in a networked computer environment through the analysis, diagnosis and formulation of solutions to technical problems, and ensures assigned equipment and software, including security equipment, is operational to a defined standard.
What you’ll do
- Responds to incidents assigned to the Network Edge team, analyzes and diagnoses problems, and works towards timely resolution. Troubleshoots network connectivity, identifies hardware or software failures, and implements corrective action.
- Responds to service requests/user problems related to the Network Edge infrastructure. Configures network devices, sets up user accounts, installs software updates, and addresses user access or connectivity issues.
- Assists in the operational maintenance and support of the network edge infrastructure. Monitors network performance, conducts routine maintenance tasks, and monitors to ensure network equipment and software are up to date.
- Assists in planning, developing, and recommending specifications for hardware and software upgrades. Researches and evaluates new technologies, assists in the procurement process, and participates in the implementation of upgrades as required.
- Maintains accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures. Updates network diagrams, records changes made to the network infrastructure, and creates documentation for troubleshooting or operational purposes.
- Provides technical support to users experiencing network-related issues. Assists users with connectivity problems, addresses network security concerns, and guides users through basic network troubleshooting steps.
- Works on data network projects as required. Meets with vendors, assesses product design and costs, evaluates current network, plans implementation and timeframe, organizes vendor demonstrations, and assists in producing and evaluating requests for proposals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Grade 12, graduation from a recognized two year computer systems technology diploma program, plus three years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
