BC Cancer - Kelowna is a full-service academic cancer center serving the whole Southern Interior Region of British Columbia. We are seeking a permanent radiation oncologist to join our staff of 18 Radiation Oncologists, two General Practitioners in Oncology and two Nurse Practitioners, working within the provincial Radiation Therapy program at BC Cancer.

 

BC Cancer - Kelowna has 5 linear accelerators, including 2 with high resolution multileaf collimation and 6 degrees of freedom couch (Edge Units) and one ETHOS unit for adaptive radiotherapy, one orthovoltage unit, 2 CT simulators and a diagnostic CT-PET. Our Brachytherapy Program is known internationally for its work in prostate, breast and gynecologic malignancy and development of new techniques and applicators. Our Stereotactic Program offers treatment for all sites, including liver and spine. We are passionate for what we do and we are looking for a Radiation Oncologist eager to join our team.

 

Our department has an active academic program; the successful applicant will be expected to deliver excellent patient care, be involved in teaching and clinical research. Participation within the provincial tumour groups is encouraged. The successful applicant will have a clinical appointment at UBC Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Radiation Oncology, and will have privileges through both the Provincial Health Services Authority, and our partner health authority at the Kelowna General Hospital.

 

Kelowna is the gateway to the Okanagan Valley, surrounded by lakes and mountains, wineries and craft breweries. It is known for its long hot sunny summers and abundance of fresh powder snow in the mountains in the winter. The only place where one can ski in the morning and sail in the afternoon.

The successful applicant must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia, must have obtained a Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the RCPSC or hold an equivalent qualification by the time of appointment, and must meet the requirements for appointment to medical staff of BC Cancer and Kelowna General Hospital. Canadian Immigration regulations accord preference to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.
