The centres are fast paced with daytime hours, and tasks vary throughout each shift, collaborating with colleagues throughout different departments. Unit Clerks are valued members of the BC Cancer Centre teams, working in areas such as Systemic Therapy Program, Radiation Therapy Program, Radiation/Medical Daycare Unit, Surgical Oncology, Ambulatory Clinic, Research Labs and Clinical Trials.

What you'll do
The clinic’s Unit Clerk performs a wide range of tasks to support the compassionate and timely care provided to our patients and their families:
- Transcribe and process physician’s orders
- Coordinate patient appointments
- Arrange patient tests and receive results
- Assemble and maintain patient charts
- Answer telephones and enter data
What you bring
- Grade 12 graduation
- Graduation from an approved Nursing Unit Clerk program
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- One year of recent, related experience or an equivalent of education, training and experience
You are able to:
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; interact in a positive manner with others, including patients and their families, general public and staff/physicians across the agency
- Confidently use various software applications and related equipment
- Approach daily work in an organized and efficient manner; set appropriate priorities
- Keyboard 40 wpm minimum
- Physically carry out the duties of the position
- Commit to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Demonstrate knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
