Hematologist - BC Cancer

BC Cancer is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer, and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. BC Cancer provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia in partnership with regional health authorities to deliver a range of cancer services, which include prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates six regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford and Prince George, along with two research centres that conduct research into the causes and cures for cancer.

BC Cancer is part of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) which plans, manages and evaluates specialty and province-wide health care services across BC. 


Locum Position with Surrey Hematology

Jan 1, 2021 – Aug 31, 2021

  1. Part time (0.5 FTE) at BC Cancer - Surrey, malignant hematology (Provincial Health Services Authority, PHSA)
  2. Part time (Fee for service) inpatient and outpatient, benign hematology at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgical Centre (Fraser Health, FH)

The Surrey Hematology locum position is a unique combined salaried and fee for service position. The 0.5 FTE salaried position is through BC Cancer - Surrey, providing malignant hematology care. This locum position also consists of a 0.5 FTE fee-for service position in a busy benign General Hematology practice at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgical Centre and Surrey Memorial Hospital creating a full-time position. Call coverage is provided for Surrey Memorial Hospital, a busy tertiary care centre.   

BC Cancer is one of the world's renowned cancer organizations. The Surrey Centre, located in Surrey, BC, offers a full range of services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and support services such as Nutrition, Clinical Trials and Patient and Family Counseling.

You will use your extensive experience and qualifications to provide quality malignant and benign hematology care for our patients. Clinical experience in predominantly myeloid malignancies in addition to lymphoma and myeloma is highly desirable. There are currently 3 other Hematologists on the Surrey Hematology team, creating a strong team for collaboration not only for clinical care, but also academic activities. This position also includes clinical teaching of hematology Clinical Fellows. You must be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the requirements of credentialing by the Professional Advisory Committee of BC Cancer.
