Overview

Reporting to the Clinical Informatics Director, CST, the Clinical Informatics Analyst provides a key role in operationalizing CST goals, drivers and key clinical priorities both at enterprise level and at program/specialty level. As part of the Clinical Informatics team, Clinical Informatics Analyst leads CST strategies and plans related to clinical systems implementation and ongoing optimization at the site level and develops business plans. The Clinical Informatics Analyst identifies and articulates gaps between current and future state clinical business processes and leads ongoing review and revision of clinical content within clinical applications to reflect best practice. Consulting with a variety of stakeholders, the Clinical Informatics Analyst collects requirements, facilitates the analysis, and ensures validation through design & build and integration into clinical workflows at site level. Continuous quality improvement and patient safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. The Clinical Informatics Analyst participates in program evaluation and quality improvement for clinical information systems including gathering and analyzing utilization patterns, statistics, PSLS reports and change requests. The Clinical Informatics Analyst provides project management and supports for all phases of assigned clinical systems development and implementation projects and also provides guidance to assigned team members.


What you’ll do

  • Applies appropriate methods to identify requirements to meet the full range of stakeholders’ information needs including performing benefits analysis, workflow and business analysis; using formal data gathering techniques and analyzing and implementing appropriate information systems. This includes identifying system deficiencies and ways of improving business efficiency functions through project deliverables.
  • Applies knowledge of basic clinical concepts, clinical care processes, technologies and workflow methods for purposes of analysis, design, development and implementation of clinical information systems and applications.
  • Determines appropriate data sources and gaps in data sources in relation to identified business needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how people, resources and information flow through the health system.
  • Identifies and frames information questions in collaboration with stakeholders to meet their needs and uses audience-appropriate communication and language to present information and convey concepts.
  • Provides system support to users during the development, implementation and optimization phases by performing duties such as troubleshooting clinical system software problems, investigating alternative solutions, and providing end user support during implementation and post go-live as assigned.
  • Provides project and clinical/business direction and guidance to working groups/subject matter experts within HOs, through work analysis, to complete specific project tasks in a timely manner.
  • Works with clinicians, managers, physicians, clerical staff and others to identify opportunities for improvement in information management by acting as a key liaison between system users and vendors to improve access to information to meet departmental and organizational business objectives.
  • Proposes future state solutions enhancements, new or redesign of business processes/workflows in collaboration with and input from key stakeholders/end users to achieve desired clinical transformation and/or to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Leads workshops and/or sessions targeted at review and validation of system design by end users and/or review of future state workflows at site level and makes recommendations
  • Leads and supports localization strategies at site level
  • Keeps abreast of developments in Clinical information solutions and clinical informatics.
  • Provides leadership in specific knowledge of specialty informatics solutions (perioperative, med. surg., ambulatory, community) and functions (clinical documentation, order entry, eMAR and closed medication loop).
  • Coordinates, collects, and analyzes project information pertaining to scope, deliverables, issue tracking and resolution, benefits analysis and return on investment opportunities.
  • Develops business plans and establishes detailed project charters, plans and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables.
  • Executes project as per plan, monitoring progress and identifying variance to plan, including assessing risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Tracks and reports on clinical project timelines related to specific clinical project deliverables, and ensure completion of clinical project deliverables, and updates status reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

What you bring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or in another health care related discipline plus five (5) years’ recent, related experience in a clinical setting. Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, Health Administration or Health Informatics preferred. Valid BC driver’s license as local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic clinical concepts, clinical care processes, technologies and workflow methods for purposes of analysis, design, development, implementation and enhancements of clinical information systems and applications.
  • Keen understanding of the health care delivery, from a patient to clinician relationship, clinician to clinician relationship, and from health system operations perspective.
  • Knowledge of clinical policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Expertise in the clinical utilization of clinical information systems.
  • Proven consistent ability to keep up with new technologies as they are introduced to the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of systems analysis and design techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Excellent presentation, interviewing, and facilitating skills.
  • Superior consulting skills.

Job Type: Regular, Full-time

Salary Range: $72,445 - $104,139 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
