BC Cancer – Vancouver Centre is the largest treatment facility within BC Cancer and works in close collaboration with the BC Cancer Research Centre (BCCRC) and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), both of which are in close proximity. Applications are invited for the position of Medical Physicist at the Vancouver Centre. The successful candidate will join a highly motivated team of physicists supporting an active Radiation Therapy Program equipped with state of the art technology including 10 linear accelerators ( 9Varian linacs (TrueBeams, Varian iXs) and a VEROTM), gated and tracked treatment delivery, HDR and LDR brachytherapy, total body irradiation, SABR, SRS/SRT and pediatric radiotherapy. Vancouver makes extensive use of VMAT and Monte Carlo based dose calculations for quality assurance and clinical research. Our cyclotron-based PET-CT functional imaging program provides a collaborative environment for advanced treatment planning and patient care, in addition to on-site MRI and diagnostic imaging. Treatment planning is performed on EclipseTM, iPlanTM, RayStationTM and MIM MaestroTM, and a province-wide AriaTM network.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in clinical and academic service and participate in clinical research and educational programs. We run a CAMPEP accredited graduate medical physics program in partnership with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a province-wide CAMPEP accredited BCC Medical Physics Residency program. A wide variety of collaborative research opportunities exist across BCC and UBC.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Medical Physics with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Radiation Therapy Physics.  Preference will be given to applicants who are CCPM or ABR certified.  Exceptional candidates not meeting these requirements may be considered.
