Obstetric Medicine Internist(s) - BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre

BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is the only facility in British Columbia devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. It provides a broad range of specialized women’s health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. BC Women’s is one of the largest maternity facilities in Canada, with over 7,000 births a year, and is both the major primary and secondary maternity services provider in the Lower Mainland and the cornerstone of the provincial tertiary care system.


As an academic health centre BCW’s mandate includes providing strong leadership in research and the education and professional development of health care professionals in areas related to the health of the populations we serve.

As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.


Applicants are being sought for a qualified applicant to practice Obstetrical Medicine in the tertiary care setting of BC Women’s and satellite clinics at other sites. Outstanding clinical skills in Obstetrical Medicine, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential in your collaborative work with other health care providers and with an interdisciplinary team. You will apply current evidence and best practice standards to the provision of care for high risk pregnant women in the province of BC, at BC Women’s and beyond.


This role requires you to be innovative, accountable and deliver quality care in accordance with established policies and philosophies at BC Women’s and the Obstetric Medicine satellite clinics it services.


As the successful candidate, you will also participate in residents’ and fellows’ teaching, and will have the opportunity to participate in clinical, research and other academic activities in Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology at University of British Columbia.


Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the province of British Columbia, have or be eligible for certification in Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada, and at least 12 months of clinical training in Obstetrical Medicine or equivalent clinical experience. The successful candidate will be recommended for clinical faculty appointment to the University of British Columbia. Academic rank, dependent on qualifications, will be recommended by the Department of Medicine of the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine.
