Physician Lead, Heartwood Centre for Women - BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services

As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.

 

As part of the provincial mental health services continuum, BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) provides a diverse range of specialized, "one-of-a-kind" tertiary mental health and substance use services to adults across the province. These include services located at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital and six regional clinics, the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health & Addiction, and Heartwood Centre for Women. In addition to delivering these clinical services, BCMHSUS provides provincial leadership for system-wide improvement through its work in: health promotion and illness prevention; knowledge exchange; and research and academic teaching.

 

The Heartwood Centre for Women is a voluntary 90-day residential treatment program where staff and residents work together to create a wholesome, therapeutic environment.  Heartwood provides trauma-informed treatment for substance dependency and other concurrent disorders, including trauma.

The Physician would work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in order to effectively plan and manage the clients thorough their recovery and rehabilitation. The incumbents will work both independently and as members of a team to balance priorities and workflow, exercising leadership, initiative, flexibility, judgment and problem-solving skills. The Physician Leads make decisions that have broad implications and complexity, ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagements are made both internally and externally.

This position is require to participate in the on-call schedule.

 

The interested physicians should be eligible for full licensure with CPSBC. Fellowship with the College of Family Physicians, or equivalent, is mandatory.
