BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is hiring a newly created position, Project Coordinator, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI).
Role Summary
Reporting to the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), the project coordinator position leads and implements DEI projects and initiatives across BCEHS in support of delivering on our organizational commitment for a safe and diverse workforce reflective of the communities we serve, and sustaining a workplace culture that is anti-racist, inclusive, welcoming and supportive of diversity.
What you will do
- In consultation with the Director and with input from relevant partners, the project coordinator develops sustainable initiatives and identifies barriers to dismantling systemic inequities.
- Evaluates and measures project outcomes and process improvements utilizing various ways of knowing to collect and communicate the stories and narratives of the organization.
- Builds relationships with various partners to foster a culture shift towards creating an organization that is diverse, inclusive and equitable.
- Coordinates the execution of projects, assuring they are done in an efficient manner, that they adhere to project protocols, and that they are completed within the required timelines.
- Identifies, collects, and analyzes relevant information/data relating to current projects, and provides input and recommendations to project/program team for development, implementation, analysis, dissemination of findings, and policy/practice implications.
- Assists with the dissemination of information and knowledge related to projects and key programs and initiatives.
What you bring
- At least five (5) years of recent, related experience in project coordination and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of partner groups.
- As a change agent who inspires others, you play the role of collaborator, curator and educator, working with all BCEHS departments, services and programs to develop partnerships, adopt new practices and inspire others.
- Leads and implements DEI projects and initiatives across BCEHS in consultation with the Director and with input from relevant partners.
- Lived and working experience in diversity, accessibility, inclusion and equity.
- Develops project plans and timelines, identifies project deliverables, tracks project progress and evaluates outcomes.
- Identifies project barriers or process problems and supports their resolution for the successful implementation and maintenance of projects/initiatives.
- Ability to liaise with all people including leaders and staff to develop DEI education and training.
- Provides training on tools and processes as required and oversees the development of education and training materials.
- Utilizes data collection methods such as surveys and focus groups to solicit input and feedback to evaluate and measure change.
- Works in conjunction with the PHSA DEI team to communicate with key stakeholders and the organization on the scope and status of DEI initiatives.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.)
- Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure Indigenous Cultural Safety lens applied holistically.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time, Permanent, Non-Contract
Salary Range: $60,427 - $86,863
The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
Location: BC (Hybrid)

As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.
