Overview

IMITS manages over 300 applications across business, clinical and research environments, serving over 50,000 front line, administrative and research staff to enable over 4.8 million patient encounters a year. As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Senior Systems Specialist, Executive Support, reports to the Director of Technology Operations and Client Services or designate and is responsible for the day-to-day technical support to BCEHS Board of Directors and the BCEHS Executive Team. The Senior Systems Specialist, Executive Support regularly attends Board and Executive Team meetings and is responsible for overseeing, planning, establishing and maintaining the technical components and infrastructure at these meetings, where sensitive and confidential information is discussed. This role communicates with staff and stakeholders at all levels to ensure requirements are met. The Senior Systems Specialist utilizes specialized technical skills to troubleshoot and implement system upgrades, tuning, maintenance and support of infrastructure systems to achieve the highest level of performance, security and stability of systems. The Senior Systems Specialist also responsible for recommending specialized and innovative solutions, providing technical consulting, preparing technical whitepapers and developing business cases to assist with decision making.


What you’ll do

  • Provides direct technical support to BCEHS CAO, BCEHS ELT, BCEHS ELT EA’s, BCEHS Board Chair, BCEHS Board Members and Board Liaison by gathering and testing various tech equipment and providing support during Board Meetings.
  • Configures/supports/moderates and setup AV Meetings at the BCEHS Virtual Way building. Sets up and moderates BCEHS Town Halls and Leaders Forums specific for the CAO.
  • Supports all AV Rooms at BCEHS Corporate office on all floors. These include, Video conferencing including using Skype, Zoom and Teams and laptop/ in room PC presentation equipment.
  • Oversees planning, establishing, and maintaining the technical components and infrastructure necessary to support the Board and Executives on various technological platforms.
  • Provides specialized technical troubleshooting and support of approved Apple devices, and coordinates and supports implements system upgrades and system tuning to ensure maximum performance, security and stability of organizations approved desktops/laptops/VOIP devices/Wi-Fi AP’s and switches.
  • Provides technical consulting, and proposes recommendations related to the acquisition of new systems and standards or the implementation of new applications on existing systems. Develops business cases that assist decision making processes. Installs, configures, tests and maintains hardware and software in support of approved projects.
  • Provides training and orientation and develops supporting instructional material for ELT and their related hardware and software usage. Maintains an awareness of current information system trends and issues through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations and attendance at seminars, workshops, and educational programs.
  • Assist with BCEHS user account management and other helpdesk tasks as required.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus five (5) years recent related experience in a large, complex information systems application environment
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of core desktop and related technologies and strategies, including technology design, implementation equipment and support functions
  • Knowledge of current information technology trends and systems.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, and ability to align and recommend technical solutions
  • Ability to understand and clearly relate technical information and principals of operation to other members of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer focused with ability to facilitate and encourage cooperation between diverse stakeholders and skill sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

Salary Range: $72,445 - $104,139 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
