BC Centre for Disease Control
The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) works together with health system partners to monitor the health of the population, promote health, prevent harm and prepare for public health threats. At the core of its work is surveillance, research and knowledge mobilization that informs programs, guidelines, policies and practices for health care professionals. BCCDC provides direct diagnostic and treatment services to people with diseases of public health significance such as tuberculosis and sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections. BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is one of the largest emergency medical service providers in North America. BCEHS has two main lines of business to ensure the safety of acute and critically ill patients. These services provide pre-hospital and inter-facility care, 24/7. BC Ambulance Service provides pre-hospital paramedical emergency health services throughout BC. The BC Patient Transfer Network works with physicians and other health care providers to provide in-the-moment information on available beds. Perinatal Services BC
Perinatal Services BC provides leadership across the continuum of perinatal care in the province, focusing on perinatal system planning, service delivery and quality improvement. We optimize and promote high-quality neonatal, maternal and fetal health care. We use a client-centric population health approach, including public health, primary and community care and hospital care. Perinatal Services BC develops, adopts and approves maternal and newborn guidelines that recommend best practices for care using a multidisciplinary approach.
