Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Clinical Lead, Redevelopment Project is responsible and accountable for clinical program development and implementation of clinical services within major capital projects for the BC Cancer plays a key role in this capital project to ensure that facility developments support and enable clinical care and operations; acts as an advocate for clinical operations and a liaison to clinical operation professionals in the development of functional clinical space.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development of the clinical service plans, functional programming and design development in partnership with the project team and executive director; liaises with the Clinical Leads, internal stakeholders, other agencies, LMFM,  public and private partners to plan clinical program and service requirements for the project.
  • Responsible for leading, facilitating and coordinating stakeholder inputs for development of clinical service planning deliverables for  BC Cancer Capital Redevelopment Projects.
  • Lead re-design and initiatives including adoption of best practices to better integrate and streamline clinical services, optimize quality and ensure cost effectiveness; ensures appropriate quality and safety measures are in place.
  • Work closely with clinical and operations teams of physicians, senior administrators and other health care professionals to identify program and service requirements; reviews and integrates service delivery models, clinical standards and operational guidelines for each of the assigned clinical services.
  • Plan responsive care delivery systems, services, resolves and facilitates the coordination of service; oversee and direct the clinical planning of programs/services during the planning and construction phases; work with the Senior Executive Team of BC Cancer to ensure that an appropriate clinical planning and clinical operations project management plan is developed, maintained and implemented; report on the status and execution of activities and risks.
  • Proactively manage risks and issues relating to service planning, escalating issues as appropriate.

What you bring

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Health Administration or related discipline and a clinical background in a related health care discipline.
  • A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years' recent related experience in progressively more complex and senior management roles in a large complex multi-site organization.
  • Five (5) years' recent related clinical and operational experience with health care planning, strategic and major project development/planning focusing on acute care service planning and/or redesign, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You have the ability to: 

  • Manage large scale projects in a health care environment that achieve high quality outcomes and exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Define, lead, plan, direct, manage and implement business and management processes.
  • Maintain, function and develop rapport with Executive Management, senior operating executives and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the operational detail associated with a large and complex environment.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of clinical operations and service planning for clinical, non-clinical and support services in an acute care facility
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others both internal and external to the organization.

You have experience in:

  • Lean process redesign experience (an asset).
  • Managing human resources and direct reports. 
  • Change management and conflict resolution.

  • Understanding of various reports including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), In Plain Sight, Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Models and supports full team commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
  • Demonstrates humility and heart-led leadership.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full Time

Salary Range: $116,591 - $167,600. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
