Reporting to the Senior Lead of the Provincial Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Network, the Project Manager is responsible for the management of strategic programs, initiatives, and projects under BCMHSUS’ provincial mandate relating to strengthening the health system for people with complex mental health, substance use, and other needs.
The Provincial MHSU Network is grounded in a person-centered, evidence-based approach and is designed to bring together and mobilize a wide range of perspectives along the continuum of care, including people with lived and living experience. The Network leads a successful Project ECHO which is an “all teach, all learn” virtual learning environment where MHSU service providers along the continuum of care gain practical skills and navigate challenging case scenarios with colleagues and subject-matter experts. The PM is responsible for the Project ECHO as well as a diversity of projects of varying size and scope working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
What you’ll do
- Establish detailed project charter, plans and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables. Execute project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components,
- Lead engagement efforts in support of collaboration across diverse sectors and disciplines in support of Network initiatives and Project ECHO.
- Support knowledge translation and exchange (KTE) activities, ensuring that evidence-informed practices are effectively communicated and integrated within the projects.
- Lead the implementation and facilitation of Project ECHO, to ensure smooth execution, high participant engagement, and the achievement of program goals.
- Track project progress according to project plan and identified metrics. Monitor and reports on the status of projects and major barriers encountered. Makes recommendations to Senior Network Lead regarding projects scope and related changes required to facilitate a successful outcome. Implement or contribute to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of project budgets within the context of operations demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets.
- Provide leadership by giving advice or guidance in situations that require interpretation and judgment.
What you bring
Qualifications
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or relevant health care discipline with a minimum of five (5) year’s recent, related experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with among people with a wide range of diverse perspectives. Project Management Professional designation considered an asset.
Skills & Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach team members on these skills.
- Experience or working knowledge of content areas is key to the success of this role.
- Effectively monitors budgets and executes project plans with stringent timelines.
- Utilizes initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans and realize project completion.
- Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the physician community.
- Utilizes effective facilitation, persuasion and negotiation abilities to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.
- Works effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management and database applications
- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents – including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study – and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Until December 5, 2025)
Salary Range: $88,990 – $127,923/Year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
