Clerk III, Receptionist
Job Summary:
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Business Support & Administrative Manager, and in accordance with established policies, standards and procedures, this position performs a variety of clerical duties, such as maintains departmental files and records, receiving and directing patients and visitors, answering phones, taking messages, re-directing calls, completing requisitions and filing
Duties/Accountabilities:
1.Maintains departmental files and records.
2.Completes laboratory requisition forms as directed by clinic physicians and nurses.
3.Enters, searches and retrieves patient information from computer for patients/families, physicians and nursing staff.
4.Retrieves patient information from Fax machine and enters into electronic patient record.
5.Completes requisitions for stationary and supplies for authorization.
6.Addressograph stamps requisitions for physicians.
7.Answers telephone inquiries, takes messages, redirects calls.
8.Receives and directs patients and visitors. Obtains patient information if required.
9.Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience
•Grade 12 and one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
•Ability to keyboard at 50 w.p.m.
•Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
•Ability to deal with others effectively.
•Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
•Ability to organize work.
•Ability to operate related equipment.
