BC Cancer – Vancouver is the largest treatment facility within BC Cancer and works in close collaboration with the BC Cancer Research Centre (BCCRC) and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), both of which are in close proximity. Our department has a current staff of 42 Medical Oncologists. The department has a longstanding reputation for clinical excellence and academia. Vancouver Cancer centre is a full service cancer centre with strong radiation oncology, surgical oncology, diagnostic imaging, pathology, oral oncology, supportive care and functional imaging services and an inpatient unit.

As a Medical Oncologist, you will use your experience and qualifications to provide quality cancer care to our patients. Clinical experience in the management of lung/head & neck and/or gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies is highly desirable and preference will be given to individuals with additional (1+) years of research training/lung or head & neck fellowship beyond medical oncology residency training requirements. This position will primarily treat lung/head & neck and/or GI malignancies with a possible other tumor site to be determined mutually with the successful candidate.

The candidate will support the activities of the Vancouver Medical Oncology Program and the UBC Medical Oncology Training Program, including the teaching of postgraduate trainees and undergraduate medical students.

You have obtained or are working towards Fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, along with a certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology. You must also be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the requirements of credentialing by the Professional Advisory Committee of BC Cancer. In addition, you should be eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. You must be eligible for a valid license to practice medicine in Canada to apply.
