BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth. BCCH also provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and operates a wide number of specialized health programs provided through a number of health services provider groups. As the main pediatrics clinical training site for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia(UBC), BCCH is the leading acute care teaching facility in the province, and conducts research to advance health and knowledge through the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and collaborations with other institutions.

BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR) is a partnership of UBC and the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) whose member agencies include the BCCH, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre. The BCCHR is dedicated to high quality research spanning a wide range of concerns relevant to children’s and family health.
As the provincial center for all tertiary and quaternary Pediatric care, BCCH provides all cardiac and cardiac surgical care for British Columbia’s population of nearly 5 million. Cardiac services are based at BCCH, including state of the art imaging facilities in Echocardiography, CT scanning and cardiac MRI. Fetal echocardiography is provided at the adjacent BC Women’s Hospital, and there is an extensive Partnership Program providing clinics throughout the regional Pediatric centers.
The Division has an excellent record of clinical research in cardiac function, vascular mechanics and electrophysiology. The Division has a fully accredited Royal College Training Program in Pediatric Cardiology, and enjoys an outstanding reputation for teaching at all levels at UBC.

The Department of Pediatrics, University of British Columbia (UBC) and the Division of Pediatric Cardiology are seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist with additional training in interventional cardiology. This position is focused on providing a full spectrum of diagnostic and interventional catheterization services, outpatient and inpatient coverage, diagnostic cardiology, along with the other duties of an academic pediatric cardiology program (teaching, trainee supervision).
The successful candidate will join the Cardiology Associates within the Division of Cardiology within the Department of Pediatrics; and work actively to encourage a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the Division. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills in general cardiology along with additional training in interventional cardiology with a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience. Experience with neonatal stent and pediatric valve implant procedures is required. Additional expertise in pulmonary hypertension would be an asset, to help lead the pulmonary hypertension service.
As a member of a dedicated team in the Cardiac Sciences Program, you will be providing clinical care and under the guidance of the Medical Director and Division Head, direct patient clinical care will be your prime responsibility; this includes cardiac catheterization, inpatient care, outpatient clinics. Diagnostic reporting of echocardiography, electrocardiograms and Holter monitors is also required.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a UBC Clinical Faculty Member. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. You will be an effective teacher and will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to continued excellence in teaching.
You will have an MD or equivalent qualification, and have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in pediatrics or comparable qualifications. You will also have completed a recognized training program in cardiology and be eligible for a specialist license to practice in British Columbia.
The anticipated start date for this position is summer 2025.
