Reporting to the Head of Psychology and Program Manager, the Psychologist, Generation Health Clinic provides psychological services to the Generation Health Clinic and to children and youth and their families with associated psychiatric, developmental, behavioural and other problems in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards of practice and guidelines. Working collaboratively with the health care team, participates in research, quality improvement and risk management projects and the development of community models, protocols and educational materials for the treatment of disordered eating and obesity. Contributes to departmental and organizational mandates and goals related to C&W’s role as an academic health centre.
What you’ll do
- Provides a comprehensive range of psychodiagnostic assessments and treatment services such as cognitive, educational, and social/emotional evaluations, executive function and learning and development, and associated conditions for children, youth, and their families, this may include psychotherapeutic interventions, such as individual or group therapy and cognitive-behaviour management, and manualized individual and family interventions. Documents assessments, treatment plans and outcomes and collaborates with other members of the treatment team.
- Collaborates with multi-disciplinary care teams, practice leaders, patient and family in the provision of care and provides information and guidance to colleagues, physicians and hospital personnel regarding psychological assessment, treatment modalities and patient care issues for this patient group.
- Monitors patient progress evaluates outcomes/goals and reassesses and/or modifies treatment plan, within the program and/or refers patient to other health care/community/government resources as required. Identifies patient and family learning needs and provides related instruction, guidance, and/or education materials and/or facilitates training and education opportunities to patient and families
- Participates in employer program initiatives for program planning and/or evaluation and the revision of criteria and procedures for referrals, needs assessment and case documentation by contributing to discussions, compiling/preparing reports, and providing input/recommendations.
- Participates in various department meetings as designated. Promotes the Generation Health Clinic to the public, community and Professionals’ groups at conferences as requested by the Head of Psychology or designate in collaboration with the Program Manager.
- Provides instruction, supervision, and evaluations for Psychology Residents and other trainees and students. Participates in training pre- and post-doctoral fellows as appropriate.
What you bring
Qualifications
- Graduate in a Doctorate level program in Psychology from a recognized university by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
- Current registration as a Psychologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC or registration with the College within one (1) year of employment.
- One (1) year of recent related experience in children, adolescent, psychodiagnostic, clinical and/or health care environment including experience working with children, adolescents, and families with disordered eating and obesity.

- Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to carry out duties in a timely fashion.
- Ability to establish priorities, develop/implement short-term and long-term objectives.
- Ability to teach and provide instruction to students.
- Proficiency in computer skills related to report writing and recording and managing data.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents – including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study – and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type: Temporary, Part-Time (0.60 FTE until August 28, 2025)
Wage: $52.81 - $65.96/hour
