BC Women’s Neonatal Program provides advanced neonatal care within a model of integrated patient and family centered care. Our nurses are trained, assigned and provide optimal care in all areas:
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): BC Women’s largest NICU is the only quaternary referral center for the province and is the largest tertiary NICU in the province, providing specialized neonatal intensive care for the most critically ill and newborns with complex medical needs in BC and Yukon.
- Mother Baby Care (MBC): A unique pod within the NICU and it is the first of its kind in all of Canada for mothers who give birth at BC Women's Hospital and newborns who require intensive observation/care. Mothers in MBC receive postpartum care in the same room as the newborns receive care by neonatal specialists.
Our comprehensive speciality training program consists of:
- Employer-paid BCIT courses
- On site clinical shifts
- Preceptor shifts
- Ongoing education and support
What you bring
- Graduation from an approved program of Nursing Education
- Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM)
- Current CPR and Newborn Resuscitation Certification
- Neonatal Theory 1 from BCIT OR Completion of BCIT Neonatal Nursing Course diploma (or equivalent program) ***preferred***
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
Job Type: Regular Full Time
Wage: $41.42/hr - $59.52/hour
