Information Management/Information Technology Services (IMITS) is a service of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) which plans, manages, and evaluates specialty and province-wide health care services across BC. Technical Project Manager

Burnaby, BC

The Technical Project Manager oversees and coordinates various aspect of the department's ongoing projects. They ensure that deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget, as outlined in the project plan. The Technical Project Manager identifies and monitors metrics related to project outcomes and offers consultation, guidance, and support to project staff, contractors, and stakeholders. Additionally, this position will be working and collaborating in a cross functioning environment, requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical teams and stakeholders.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborates with Solution Architects and other Technology Services resources to determine the technology feasibility, constraints and options / requirements; translates technical solution(s) and specifications into clearly articulated and easily understood language for proposals
  • Manage project resources, including network infrastructure, data storage, server virtualization, and database services resources, as required, based on the scope of the assigned projects
  • Collaborates with the development process for IT infrastructure project proposals of varying degrees of complexity, costs and impact, on behalf of various external HAs across the province, working internally within their own team and with other Technology Services groups to conclude the project proposal process; utilizes professional expertise in proposal management, development, solving, estimating, tracking and reporting, client engagement, and stakeholder relationship development and management
  • Tracks project progress according to the project plan, schedules and action plans to produce project deliverables, and reports on the status of the projects and any key issues that are encountered
  • Preparation of project change requests for any changes in scope, schedule, and budget
  • Participates in the development and monitoring of project budgets within the context of operations demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets.
  • Reviews and discusses all components of the proposal with the client(s) and confirms requirements; takes questions and explains the rationale behind the resource estimates, infrastructure / technology options and solutions, and reworks the project proposal based on client feedback

What you bring

Qualifications

  • A minimum of six (6) years project management experience, managing a range of IT infrastructure (servers, storage, voice / data / wireless networking) projects in IT service delivery organizations
  • Detail-oriented approach to data-driven project deliverables
  • Strong budget management skills
  • Training and experience with best practice project management techniques and processes
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team of technical resources
  • PMP certification is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications

Job Type: Casual full-time hours (37.5 hours per week)

Wage: $39.00 - $51.00/hour - as a casual employee, total earnings include an additional 13% in lieu of benefits and paid vacation. The rate for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan
