Living in BC
The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and its many programs and services serve people from across British Columbia (BC). We are grateful to all the First Nations who have cared for and nurtured the lands and waters around us for all time.
While our two hospitals are in Vancouver, all other services are located both in Vancouver and across the province. When you work with a PHSA program, your career can literally take you across mountains, rivers, lakes, and streams.
Known across Canada as “Beautiful British Columbia,” the most western province earns this name for its incredible scenery and landscape. Ocean to the west, Rocky Mountains to the east, and diverse geography as you travel from south to north.
BC has something of appeal for everyone: moderate climate with urban and suburban neighbourhoods in the southwest, rural and remote properties with four distinct seasons in the north, and equal parts winter sports / summer beach fun in the east.
Each area of the province — Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Okanagan/Interior, Vancouver Island, and Northern BC — has its own distinct culture, landmarks, climate, and a “what we’re known for” appeal. As much as they’re different, each geographic area also offers a mix of urban and rural, smalltown and remote living. BC offers a huge range of lifestyle opportunities to match the various career offerings through PHSA.
