BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver, $32.00 to $39.89 per hour
What you’ll do
- Performs, produces, and provides preliminary reports on pediatric echocardiograms at BC Children’s Hospital, BC Women’s Hospital and/or at Cardiology Partnership Clinics; recognizes situations where further investigation or testing may be required.
- Enters relevant numerical data and technical comments into the digital archiving system for further interpretation and reporting by a pediatric cardiologist (ie. determines and records anatomical and physiological findings and measures, calculates and records numerical data from the various modalities used to produce the pediatric echocardiogram).
- Provides instruction, teaching, and training in pediatric echocardiography to staff, students and physicians. Gives in-service presentations and acts as a resource person on pediatric echocardiography.
- Assists cardiologist with echocardiography guided procedures such as intra-operative and transesophageal echocardiograms and septostomies, and conducts tests related to research protocols in various areas of the hospital (ie. Special Care Nursery, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Room, Catheterization Lab).
- Checks echocardiography equipment for optimal functioning, cleans equipment and replenishes supplies; reports equipment problems to the Echocardiography Supervisor or designate.
What you bring
- Graduation from a recognized ultrasound program with adult echocardiography.
- Current adult and pediatric echocardiography registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
- Recent pediatric echocardiography experience preferred.
- Current qualifications in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province's most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children (SHHC), a leading provincial facility offering specialized services to children and youth with developmental disabilities from birth to age 19, works collaboratively with BCCH. SHHC focuses on the child and their family while supporting health care professionals in their community. BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.
