International and Out-of-province Applicants
Immigration support
If you are offered a position with PHSA, you must be registered with your profession’s regulatory body in British Columbia (e.g. BC College of Nurses and Midwives, College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia) before you can receive formal authorization to work in Canada. Once you’re registered, there are several resources in place to support your immigration.
- PHSA has an in-house immigration support team available to guide new employees and their families. They can show you how to get authorization to work in Canada and apply for permanent residency; and provide general assistance with moving to BC
- The BC Provincial Nominee Program helps support PHSA and job candidates with the work authorization process. It "nominates" individuals who hold a valid job offer and then issues a letter to support a work permit. The letter is needed to apply for the initial work permit. The nomination starts the process to apply for permanent residency
- Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada: this government agency provides detailed information to support relocating to Canada for work, and for applying to become a permanent resident of Canada.
